Our History
Our journey began in 1998, when Ruža and Mile Dragićević decided to return to their home in Medjugorje. The couple went to Germany in 1969 as guest workers in the Stuttgart area. Ruža and Mile dreamed of spending their retirement in the peaceful surroundings of their childhood and creating a place where travelers and pilgrims could feel at home.
They quickly found what they were looking for: Just a few steps from Ruža’s birthplace, they found the perfect location for a guesthouse surrounded by greenery. Here they opened a resting place for guests and pilgrims from all over the world and ran this family business with love and dedication.
After Miles passed away in 2020, Ruža received support from the family’s youngest son Daniel. His sister Silvia, after whom the guesthouse is named, as well as brother Darko and cousin Jela are also part of the long-established staff.
In 2010, the pension was extensively renovated and a new extension was added to provide our guests with traditional atmosphere as well as comfort and modern amenities, such as an elevator and air conditioning in every room.
In the 26 years of our existence, we have hosted tour groups, families with children and pilgrims. Some of our guests have visited us every year since then. They all appreciate our warm hospitality, the personal character, the cozy rooms and the tranquillity of our house. We would be delighted to offer you a retreat in the midst of the natural beauty and spiritual atmosphere of Medjugorje.
